Who are we?

  Joseph Dargan was born in Dublin in 1933. After his novitiate in Emo he stiudied philosophy in Tullamore, theology in Milltown Park and has been ordained in 1964. For two years he worked on a Social Survey of Ireland as part of the Society’s response to Vatican II. He was Novice Master (1968-73), Director of the Jesuit Centre of Spirituality in Manresa, Rector of Clongoves Wood College, Gonzaga College and Belvedere College. From 1980 to 1986 Fr. Dargan was Provincial of the Irish Province. Moreover he was Secretary General of the Conference of Religious in Ireland and for some years also of the European Religious. From 1993 to 1998 he was Consultant to the Irish Bishop’s Conference on Pastoral Development. Before becoming Tertian Instructor he worked almost three years in Nairobi Kenya.
  Jan van de Poll, born in 1943 in The Hague, Netherlands, entered the Society of Jesus in 1961, studied philosophy and written and unwritten law in the Netherlands, languages of Indonesia and theology in Java, worked in Indonesia, Belgium and France, was novicemaster and until 2006 provincial of the Netherlands. His favourite sports have all to do with water. Spirituality of the Jesuits was discovered by readings of Karl Rahner, some wise spiritual Dutch and Flemish Jesuits in the Low Lands and Indonesia and his work in Ambon, Yogyakarta, Brussels, Lyon, Bruges and Utrecht. His family is a great support for his vocation. He participated for the Dutch Province in the 35th General Congregation of the Society of Jesus in Rome.

Branislav Beniac is from Slovakia. He was ordained in 2001. He is working in pastoral services mainly with young people. His last job was in Piestany where he was director of the Jesuit Pastoral Centre.
 
Christopher Chimhanda from the Zimbabwe Province [ZIM]  joined the Society of Jesus in 1992 and was ordained in July 2007.  Besides Philosophy and Theology, which he studied as part of his preparation for Priesthood, he also did an MA in Zimbabwean History.  For the past two years, he has been working as socius at the novitiate in Zambia.
 
Born and raised in New York, Chris Derby (NYK) entered the Society there in 1988 after service with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps. His apostolic work has mainly been teaching English and directing theater in secondary schools, plus serving for 5 years as Director of Vocations for the Maryland & New York Provinces.
 
Bogdan Dlugosz was born in 1968 in Poland. He joined the Society in 1990. He studied philosophy in Cracow and theology in Warsaw and a became priest in 2001. From 2000 to 2003, he studied in Rome. For the past six years, he has been working in Opole.
 
Manuel Hernández (TAR) was born in Zaragoza (Spain). He joined Society in 1995 after his degree in Architecture. He studied theology in Barcelona and has a Master in Multimedia Design. He works in Youth Ministry using the multimedia. He was ordained in 2005.
 
Larry Huck, S.J. (NOR) was born on Feb. 7, 1969 in New Orleans, LA (U.S.A).  He entered the Society of Jesus as a Brother on Aug. 14, 1993. After first vows in 1995 he studied and completed a B.A. in History at Creighton University. In August of 1998 he worked for four years at Jesuit High School of Tampa teaching history and as Director of Campus Ministry. In 2002 he departed Jesuit to earn an M.T.S.  degree in Spirituality from the Jesuit School of Theology.  From 2004 to 2009 he has worked at Jesuit High School of New Orleans teaching Sacraments, working with the student council, coaching the tennis team and assisting on student retreats. 
 
Grzegorz Jankowski from Poland; studied in Poland and Rome; worked in England and Poland.
 
Eudson Ramos was born in Arcoverde (Brazil) in 1974. Entered in the Society of Jesus (Northeast Province) as Jesuit Brother in 1995 and after Novitiate and Juniorate he was sent to study Business Administration in Recife and at the same time he worked at UNICAP University. From that year, he started his activities as a Promoter of Vocations until 2008 taking part in Provincial, National and Latin-American Commissions. For four and half years (2001-2005) he worked as a School Manager in Nóbrega School, when he moved to Salvador and studied Theology there. For several years he was also involved in organization of National Commission of Brothers and National Conferences for Brothers in formation.
 
Jeno Rigo is a Hungarian jesuit. He joined the Society in 1995, studied philosophy in Munich in 1997-1999, theology in London in 2002-2005 and became priest in 2006. Until now he has been working as manager of the Internat of our Jesuit High School in Hungary.
 
Andreas Schalbetter was born in 1965 in Switzerland in the canton Valley (Wallis/Valais), where they have many beautiful mountains, such as Matterhorn, Mischabel-Group and so on. His mother language is a Swiss-German dialect. He studied theology and joined the Society of Jesus (became a Jesuit) in 1998. He specialized in Ignatian spirituality and interpersonal communication and worked seven years in pastoral work with students.
 
Leopold Slaninka was born 24 June 1967 in Slovakia. He entered the Society of Jesus in 1988 during the period of communism. From 1991 to 1993 he studied Philosophy in Bratislava. He undertook his regency in Rome at the Vatican Radio and at the same time studied Communications at the Gregorian university. He studied theology in Bratislava from 1995 to 1999, where he was ordained as a priest. From 1999 – 2001 he worked in Piestany as a priest in Youth ministry and gave Spiritual exercises. For the last 8 years he lived in Rome where he studied Psychology at Gregorian university for 4 years and after that he was a Director of Slovak section in Vatican Radio for 4 years.
 
Joze Zajec(SVN), was born in 1970 in Ljubljana, Slovenia and entered the Society of Jezus in 1993. After novitiate he went to Rome for Regency at Centro Aletti. He Studied theology at the Gregoriana. In 2001 he was ordained and them was entrusted with the responsibility of the Vice-Rettore of the Pontifical Collegio Russicum. At the same time, he studied at the Pontifical Institute Sant' Anselmo specialization in monasticism.
